Hillrose Pet Resort is proud to announce that Koko Ambuehl, owner of Hillrose Pet Resort, finished her eleventh Champion Wire Fox Terrier in April, Ch. Hillrose the Heart of Diamond. Her new champion's call name is Sakura which means Cherry Blossom in Japanese so it is most appropriate that Sakura became a Champion in April, the height of cherry blossom season in Japan.
Koko's plans are to send her new Champion to Japan for a year hopefully to become a Japanese Champion which she will breed her Champion upon return so she can continue to show her dogs herself. In the meantime Koko has two puppies which Koko will show one while Sakura is in Japan.
Koko started her Champion breeding line in 1990 when she imported a beautiful bitch, Cilla from England. Hand picked by well known British breeder Michael Collings, her import quickly took Reserve Winner Bitch at Montgomery in 1991. Reserve means second in all bitches that were entered. Montgomery is the biggest Terrier show in the US and her import won over many beautiful Wire Fox Terriers. Her imported bitch finished to become Champion Birthday Ballet Girl of Purston, Koko's first Wire Fox Terrier Champion. You will find Cilla in an oil painting in our lobby that Koko painted after Cilla finished champion with her talented hands for grooming and painting
Koko started showing her dogs using famous professional handlers like Woody Warnell which is now a professional dog show judge. Koko studied grooming for Wire Fox Terriers under many professional handlers such as Ric Chashoudian, Clay Cody, and Bill McFadden.
In the more recent years she has been handling her dogs herself often entering the Bred By Exhibitor Class competing with the best Professional handlers like Bill McFadden and Gabriel Rangel.
